LAVENDER LENS LOGO CONTEST INFO&GUIDELINES
WHEN
When the logo is found or JULY 5, 2008 (whichever occurs earlier). The designer, whose logo best
represents the identity of Lavender Lens magazine, will receive a $500.00 prize. S/he will be notified
when the logo committee has selected the winning logo.
WHO
You! Since you determine the content and direction of Lavender Lens, we would like you to be part
of the magazine’s makeover. Are you familiar with the past and present mission and content of
Lavender Lens? Do you recognize the various age groups Lavender Lens reaches? The different
styles incorporated? Are you in touch with logo design trends from here on forward? Your
submission will transcend current logo design fads and take Lavender Lens into the next 7 years.
WHAT
Lavender Lens gets a facelift. For a start, we are looking for a clean, fresh, and sophisticated
magazine logo (up to 7’’ horiz., 3’’ vert. but smaller than the limit on both together) and a “stamp”
/favicon to be part of it as well as stand on its own (initials suggested for independent favicon). The
“stamp”/favicon is (also) used to identify free print publications.
Note: Shades of purple and yellow, which have been used to represent the publication for several
years, do not have to be incorporated in the lettering, but some purple in the “stamp”/favicon or
other interpretation of the “Lens”. Colors that appear to be a good match with the brand and its future
are shades of “olive green”, orange, purple, and off-white & cream tones, but we are open to others.
Current logo design references: LogoOrange and InspireYourself.
P.S. We are not trying to incorporate the "lambda symbols" from here on forward.
ABOUT
Lavender Lens is the only San Diego based glossy cover monthly news & lifestyle magazine for
lesbians & friends. The award winning publication hit issue #100 in June 2008, which is a landmark in
lesbian oriented press free to its audience.
Worldly yet regional, passionate and hip, Lavender Lens delivers the vision of the modern gay
woman. Writers and staff members push limits in exploring such concerns as confidence,
professionalism, integration, sex talk, health trends, and special interest.
Lavender Lens reaches 12,000 – 20,000 readers monthly, representing the community that sets the
standards for lesbian interests, news, entertainment, and lifestyle.
